Decia Dixon, Ph.D.

Dr. Decia Dixon is on a mission to help families achieve happiness and stability in their homes. As both a licensed psychologist in Georgia and a nationally board-certified school psychologist, she has a unique understanding of the complex and overlapping systems where children and adolescents spend their time. Dr. Dixon owns a private practice, The Parent Child Practice, where she assists parents with psychoeducational evaluations and identifies learning, emotional, and/or behavioral struggles that may impede children from being their best selves.  Dr. Dixon has worked in multiple clinical settings, including prisons, juvenile detention centers, domestic violence shelters, a Veterans Affairs hospital, a school-based mental health center, and a developmental disability clinic.

 

In addition to her practice, Dr. Dixon is a highly sought parent coach, speaker, and consultant with large school districts. She is also an adjunct faculty member in a clinical medical psychology program, a board member for the Learning Disabilities Association of America (GA Chapter), a member of the National Association of School Psychologists, and a leader in the American Psychological Association and Georgia Psychology Association, receiving the prestigious designation of Fellow for her contributions to the field of psychology in Georgia.

 

Dr. Dixon earned a B.A. in psychology from Spelman College and an Ed.S. and Ph.D. from the University of South Florida.  She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, a Lead Atlanta Alumna, and a Certified Gottman Bringing Baby Home Educator.
